Most clients can&#039;t answer what is a seemingly simple question &quot;What is the purpose of your site?&quot; As you&#039;ve stated&quot;...most companies still start with the design and work backwards.&quot;

I guess it&#039;s true what they say &quot;Common sense isn&#039;t very common!&quot; :)

Without the foundation you&#039;ve described in this post any site design will fail to engage your audience in any meaningful interaction.

A wonderful book on the same concepts you are describing in this post is: &quot;Information Architecture: Blueprints for the Web (2nd Edition)&quot; by Christina Wodtke.  http://tinyurl.com/yjackqk
